Ma Tse Lin
Born in Guangdong (China) in 1960, Ma Tse Lin has been living and working in Paris since 1985. He is widely known for his Buddhas which he artistically rediscovered from distance to his own culture. In 1991 he finished his studies at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, where he was the first Chinese to be accepted. He participated in an exhibition held at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) in 1989, was awarded the French cultural prize in 1990 and later received a scholarship for a residence in New York.
In 1994 the Museum of Fine Art Taipei invited him for an exhibition. Later that year he visited Shanghai only to discover Buddha as a topic that came to be an essential part of his work. His art has been exhibited at all important fairs for contemporary art since 1993. Today it is part of the collections of the Museums for Contemporary Art in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei as well as of numerous private collections throughout the world.
