PAVLE KUZMANOSKI - Painting

Since four decades Pavle Kuzmanoski (born 1939 at Tetovo) is creatively active and among the leading artists of contemporary Macedonian Painting. Now he is presenting himself to the German public at the ART CENTER BERLIN with his famous cycle "The Witnesses" and the cycle "Landscapes of ara". The Witnesses are asking questions, but the key to the answer is both in the pictures and as well in the spectator, according to the style of modern arts.
At the same time they remind of the prophets of the Old Testament, Jesaja and Jeremia, who interlace in their entrancement God and the earthly suffering, or Hiob, who had to suffer innocently. Aesthetics and philosophy of the pictures are most contemporary and are hitting the partially catastrophic feeling for the world of the modern human.
The second cycle shows the landscape of the ara more precisely the ar Platina, the most beautiful and ample mountains of Macedonia. The spectator is discovering the primeval beauty untouched by human civilisation. The landscapes are, like the witnesses, painted in expressionistic style, colourful, with ecstatic and expanded lineaments, but as well impressionistic. They show very obviously the artists deep ardour for the landscapes of ara.
Macedonia, which is on the way to the European Union, but still afflicted with the typical problems of a post-socialist state, presents here its brilliant cultural side.
The exhibition will be opened by the ambassador of Macedonia, H.E. Prof. Dr. Gjorgji Filipov. As well expected are the curator Klime Korobar (director of city museum in Skopje) and the multiple assigned litterateur and art critic Eftim Kletnikov to elucidate the relevance of the work of Pavle Kuzmanoski to the European arts.
