"Endurance before such hugeness, in the face of time. My heads are of rock, solid, their features those of ancient heads, they strive to attain the eternity of the skies that reveal them. Oil and acrylic, skin and unfathomable unity, for me painting is an acknowledgement of existence, in all its fragility, its unbelievable hope."

Olivier Saint-Pierre was born in Lyon / France in 1955. He lives and works in Lyon.

In his youth the artist adored Michelangelo and Dürer. He visited the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Lyon for one year. After this, Saint-Pierre studies graphics and drawing at the school for art and decoration in Genève, Switzerland.

From 1980 to 1985 he works as commercial artist in Paris.

In 1986 he turns completely to painting. He is teaching at several universities. In 1998 Saint-Pierre studies plastic art at the university in St. Etienne.
