Thomas Tyllack - a short info
Thomas Tyllack has been active for over forty years in the field of art. In 1981 he graduated from The Berlin School of Art (Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee). For many years he dedicated himself to the free artistic work. Several years he worked as a researcher in the field of heritage conservation. Moreover he is experienced in handling commercial and administrative matters.
In 2005, he became the founding Managing Director of the
Art Center Berlin Friedrichstrasse the largest privately held forum for exhibitions of contemporary art in Berlin'. During the five years of exhibition presentation (till the closing in February 2010) he has organized more than 100 exhibition projects at the Art Center Berlin frequently also as curator.
In 2009, Thomas Tyllack founded
'art place berlin' as a platform for contemporary art and intercultural projects. Since then 'art place berlin' shows continuously changing exhibitions of contemporary art in cooperation with the Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz.
For many years the focus of his activities is on the international art and cultural exchange and the promotion of intercultural dialogue in a wide spectrum.
In 2010, he has been founder and later director of the Delphic Art Movie Award (DAMA) a worldwide contest for short documentaries (duration 10 minutes) about the fascination of arts and cultures. Motto: Discover, understand and enjoy arts and cultures through documentaries. Show the fascination of art!
As a result of his activity as advisor to the IDC (until 2015), the International Delphic Council (IDC) became the host of the award ceremony for the first Delphic Art Movie Award 2011 in Berlin.
